A nice natural 2.2 mile to the end hike – about 1.4 miles does the trail you will happen across the Fort Fisher Hermits shelter a concrete structure where Robert Harris lived as a hermit for 17 years.

There is a plaque on the wall outlining the details. But don’t stop there, continue along the trail to the end for some magnificent views across the basin.

Parking is available near the Fort Fisher Park Office and there are picnic spots with sun shades, grills and rest rooms there also.

It’s a lovely spot and often overlooked by those heading to the aquarium (which is also spectacular!).

Take time to get out into nature and enjoy the hike and nature – you will see some fantastic wildlife.
